Match the rate to the income year

Law No. 21,850 establishes the following phase-in for the general corporate income tax regime. Match the income year to the following tax assessment year.

Income year Tax assessment year General regime rate
2026 2027 27%
2027 2028 25.5%
2028 2029 24%
2029 onward 2030 onward 23%

Special Pro Pyme rules under Law No. 21,755 and the Article 14(G) exceptions for 2026 and 2027 must be considered separately. For an illustrative CLP 100 million tax base, general-regime corporate tax is CLP 27 million in 2026, CLP 25.5 million in 2027, CLP 24 million in 2028 and CLP 23 million from 2029, before credits or other adjustments.

Credit balances require their own timeline

Article 9 takes effect on 1 January 2027. Credit restitution is 30% for credits generated from income year 2027 (tax assessment year 2028) and 20% for income year 2028 (assessment year 2029). New credits generated from income year 2029 (assessment year 2030) are no longer subject to that restitution requirement. Law No. 21,850, Article 9 and fifth transitional article (Spanish).

Receiving a credit through a dividend or reorganisation does not turn an older credit into a new one. Credits accumulated through 31 December 2026 retain their previous treatment and are allocated first until exhausted, followed by the 2027 and 2028 balances. The SAC register must preserve the relevant credit vintage and restitution obligation. Non-resident shareholders must also establish their treatment under Article 63 of the Income Tax Law and any applicable treaty. SII: corporate tax integration (Spanish).

Filing readiness and legal commencement

Statutory commencement does not by itself confirm that every application form or administrative process is open. Identify the governing article, eligibility evidence, filing method, payment requirement and person responsible for each decision. Keep general monthly and annual compliance obligations in the same calendar.

The Treasury date above is an IDC legal calculation, not a Treasury-confirmed operational deadline. Check the applicable instructions, portal availability and any formally issued extension before filing. Closing dates for donations and overseas disclosure require their own review. The starting dates above follow the published law; unresolved closing-date details should not be disguised as unpublished legislation.

Administrative guidance: SII information pages explain the measures but do not replace the statute or a specific circular or resolution. Check the official circular index and resolution index for issued guidance and its application to the relevant procedure. Statutory commencement and filing availability are separate matters.
